SNMP monitoring and Zabbix Template

Hi Guys,

I'm just starting to get to know how to use Zabbix and one of the challenges that I am facing now is the Template. I am monitoring network devices via SNMP. I've read the documentation and made it work on 2 hosts but now, I feel like there are tons of things that are being monitored by each template. It is a bit aggressive and there are a lot of things that I want to exclude. For example, I want to discover only the interfaces that are currently active and not all the interfaces.

Now, I wonder how others are doing it in their environment. Do you use the out-of-the-box Template and filter out the things that you do not need? Or you build your templates yourself and include the things that you only need? I am planning to monitor around 1,000 hosts if this goes well.

If you are going to set up a serious monitoring system, then you need to proceed from your needs in metrics and implement them using the capabilities of Zabbix.Consider templates as examples and customize them to suit your needs or make your own.
