    SMTP Help

    Hey you guys,

Sorry to be posting and asking for help again! But this time I have run into the issue of setting up email notifications... I have the trigger side down, but setting up the Administration ---> Media types side is being confusing to me right now. So I have an SMTP server setup on the zabbix server and I set that as the server as this

    SMTP server : http:// ipaddress(of this server)
    SMTP helo: servername.companyname.com
    SMTP email: [email protected]
    Enabled: Checked

I am not sure if these are the correct settings, since I actually set this up once before, but sort of a long time ago. I tried searching and putting pieces together from other forum posts but it is hard to find everything I need.

Thank you guys so much in advance again, I have never felt so welcome to a forum community such as this one.

For the SMTP server, that's the hostname or IP of the email server. Suppose you're running postfix on host 192.2.2.1, you'd set the field to this IP.

    HTH.

    cheers,

      Yeah I have tried that

So I have tried it all, and it seems like its supposed to work, but the thing is that it says the connection keeps getting refused... I am using sendmail and I have no idea what else I should try on the zabbix side? Since the server that has sendmail is not managed by myself, so I can't really make any changes on it... Any ideas?

        Hi,

Whenever I'm in a jam like the above, I use telnet telnet accepts an optional second parameter which is a port number. You can use it to connect to a service.

Here's a link on how you can troubleshoot: https://workaround.org/ispmail/lenny...through-telnet

My guess is you'll need to talk with your mail admin to allow your IP access.

        Cheers,
