    Simulating Cloud Cost

A popular topic here is how our internal charge back compares to cloud costs, such as AWS. Of course, they say we cost more, but when we dig deeper, users tend to think they can run on a tiny cloud system but have much larger and overloaded systems here.

Has anyone every tried to simulate what cloud costs would be for an existing Zabbix monitored system? I think I'd like to have a simple "Equivalent Cloud cost per hour" calculated item that is somehow a smooth average of the past hour or so system usage.

I've started looking the vmware templates and some things are close, but others seem missing. I/O usage seems there, but the disk size is for the file systems, only works if vmware tools are running, I'd rather just see the virtual device size, which I haven't found yet.

    Thanks for any ideas.

Also one more thing to include in the list:
    - Price of "bulletproof" Internet connection.

Because when you lose Internet - you lose your Cloud. And all data. And all office has a barbeque. And you have a PITA.
    Sincerely yours,
