New install (step 2C) can't connect to DB

    Greetings folks,

I'm new to Zabbix (amateur at linux - though my LUG friend would say I know more than I give myself credit for...)

Anyway, I've just installed Debian 10.7 in a VM and have been stepping through the installation instructions found at https://www.zabbix.com/download?zabb...uster&db=mysql

I've reached step 2c but when I attempt to execute
    mysql -uroot -p

    I get
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

I've tried entering my password, my root password, running as my user account, as root, sudo, and currently using the same password for both root and user account so as to ensure I get in... but so far, nothing. I don't think I missed any steps and I don't see any errors (though I did see a notice to run systemctl reload apache2 but that's not MySQL...

Can someone assist in helping me get this going?

    Thanks

Did you install the MySQL server? If you just installed the Zabbix packages, the MySQL server will not be installed. If you want to run the MySQL server on the same server, please install the MySQL server on the same server separately.
