Is LIBXML2 required on server if on proxy?

    Hi

I used zabbix for years, and happy about it.
I use both Zabbix on Linux and FreeBSD

But now i have a VMware env i need to monitor.
This LIBXML2 is not included in the default port on FreeBSD, i could easy build the port myself, but the question is do i need to use LIBXML2 on the zabbix server
if i will monitor the VMware env from at zabbx proxy, and just enable LIBXML2 on that proxy server.

Xml support is needed only on the server / proxy through which you will monitor your vmware.
When installing zabbix server/proxy on freebsd from the ports, run make config and select libxml2 for vmware support - the necessary packages will be installed automatically. including standard /usr/ports/textproc/libxml2

      Hi Hamardaban

Sorry i think you misunderstand my question

I will monitor VMware trough proxy, proxy will get installed by select libxml2 and make install that port

Do i need to do the same thing with zabbix server to, or can i just use binary from pkg without libxml2

So do i need to create both zabbix server and proxy with libxml2? or is it enough that proxy server have libxml2?

I understood the question - it's from the faq. I probably should have written the word «only»
it is installed only on the system that communicates with vmware.
in you case. - install only on proxy.

      Hi

Great that is perfect, i really appreciate your help

I have nothing against building ports, but its way easier to use pkg, so now i only need to mange one proxy with portmaster.

I hope you have a great day
