    Zabbix 2.2.2, SNMP unsupported?

    From Zabbix log-file:

    Added hosts with IP and port in "SNMP Interface" field. Added custom SNMP settings to connected template items. snmpwalk returns good values.

    Result:

    Why are they unsupported? What have I missed? SNMP data in overview returns "-".

    I might add that the working items are ICMP pings that are running, no problem with those. I'm having a hard time diagnosing the problem, zabbix_server.log returns snmp fault with hosts that are unreachable by ping, but if Zabbix gives me a clue to why they aren't working, I'm missing it entirely.

    How would I even troubleshoot this issue? I changed the way I input SNMP-community to no effect. Zabbix doesn't give me any SMTP-errors for hosts that aren't unavailable, other than that they are "not supported"

    Could this be a trigger issue? I haven't defined any triggers for the SNMP data, I just want Zabbix to retrieve it and show it to me.

    Increasing the loglevel, I get this nugget that is probably relevant:

    Code:
      4529:20150508:111414.165 zbx_snmp_get_value() snmp_synch_response():0
      4529:20150508:111414.165 In zbx_snmp_set_result()
      4529:20150508:111414.165 End of zbx_snmp_set_result():NOTSUPPORTED
      4529:20150508:111414.165 End of zbx_snmp_get_value():NOTSUPPORTED
      4529:20150508:111414.165 In zbx_snmp_close_session()
      4529:20150508:111414.165 End of zbx_snmp_close_session()
      4529:20150508:111414.165 End of get_value_snmp():NOTSUPPORTED
    I should mention I am using full OID's trying to retrieve information.

    what are you using for your community? are you using the {SNMP_COMMUNITY} macro on the templates? have you defined that macro in Administration - General -Macros ?

      I deleted the macro tag and just input the SNMP community straight into the template since we use the same community for the entire network. Think that might be a problem?

      EDIT: Changed it, no difference. I'm checking over the OIDs again to see if they are the problem. Here are my results:

      snmpwalk -v2c -c <> <> 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.4
      = iso.3.6.1.2.1.1.4.0 = STRING: "Helpdesk 0000-0000000"

      This is how the item looks like. Could the "key" be an issue? I have no idea what the purpose of that field is:

        UPDATE:

        Apparently you can't cheat your way out of installing every MIB in existance. I followed this guide and now supported items are steadily increasing:
        Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an Internet-standard protocol for managing devices on IP networks. net-snmp is the main SNMP implementation for Linux and BSD platforms. On Ubuntu or De…

          i don't use mibs, even for my custom snmp stuff. i always use the oid, and not the human readable mib name. therefore, i don't have to bother loading all those mib files.

          if your SNMP OID is defined using a mib name, and you don't have the appropriate mib files loaded, that will definitely cause an issue trying to translate them to an OID.

          the KEY field is a unique identifier for that checked item. you reference that key elsewhere in zabbix to create triggers, graphs, etc based on the data returned.
