    Monitoring Windows server

I am new to network monitoring. I would like to monitor 1 windows server. This server act as an Unreal Engine Dedicated Server, so I would like to monitor the traffic.

My questions is, what product do I need to use? Can I get some tips?

For a newbie the available solutions look overwhelming.

You mean... what network monitoring "product" you need, like Zabbix?
I guess you're in the right place.

    Check out Zabbix solutions.

Read the documentation and try to install Zabbix.

Like markfree says, zabbix would be able to do this. Because it is 1 single host, it should be pretty straightforward. However, zabbix is a very complex piece of software designed to monitor very large environments, so it might be a bit overkill for 1 host. Could be that you want to explore the software though, in which case this is a very good first setup to do, I had my first experience with zabbix at home by monitoring 1 single host as well, before I deployed it at work in our very large environment

      In essence:
      - install zabbix using the supplied documentation and make sure it is properly connected to the network and properly set up. You can use a physical machine for this but a VM is also possible
      - Log into the web interface
      - Take a look at the included templates in the templates section and pick the one applicable (linux or windows).
      - Clone the template you need, so the original is not adjusted and you can use that one again in the future
      - Throw out everything that you don't want monitored
      - Take a look at what triggers you need (triggers produce alerts in response to received data) and throw out everything else. You can do this in the trigger section of the template configuration. Adjust the triggers you would like to use to your needs, for instance by setting the traffic limit which will produce an alert when detected traffic is higher than the limit
      - Create a new host object in the hosts section and make sure the settings are correct
      - Attach the template to the host object in the configuration section of the host
      - Configure which actions you would like to have executed when a trigger fires/alert is generated (like sending a mail) in the trigger actions section. If you only want the alerts in the zabbix interface without mails being sent or similar, you do not need to set actions
      - Done

If you want more detail, let me know what exactly you would like more detail about. This is a very broad and general overview of what you need to do

Cheers (I live in the Netherlands as well by the way)

BlueBull I am going to give it a try, coming days. If I am correct I first need to install zabbix on my own local computer and second on my server (host)

Yes indeed, you need a device serving as a zabbix monitor server (physical or virtual) and then if the template you want to use gathers its data through zabbix agent checks, you need to install the zabbix agent on the system you want to monitor, in this case your Unreal Server Windows device. You also need to make sure you have made the correct adjustments in the zabbix agent config file before you install the agent
