Log file monitors scripts with passive agents

Any one has a good script to monitor logs for a specific keywords that can be used with zabbix passive agents

Can't you switch to active agent and use in-built zabbix technology ( log[] items ) ? Honestly I guess it will be much harder and more error-like to invent a wheel again.

Basically the the thing is that the script will have to remember the place ( time ) of the log where it stopped in the previous run ( to prevent double read of the same lines ) and that's just the first thing you need to take in to consideration...
