I am running Zabbix 2.4.4 on a CentOS 7 server and I am trying to monitor servers in a LOT of other places. I am successfully monitoring local servers and a few remote ones that have had firewall ports opened up. Right now, I am having trouble monitoring remote servers because I sometimes don't have access to port 10050 for the server to send active monitoring lists to the agent, due to firewall restrictions that I don't always have control over. I have tried passive monitoring, but the Zabbix server is still trying to poll the agent, which is still behind a firewall. Is there any way to set up the Zabbix agent to just report its own status and send information without having the Zabbix server prompt for it?

By setting "Zabbix agent" or "Zabbix agent (active)" item type one has complete control of the communication direction.
