having trouble with template Check Windows update

Hi everyone,

I recently installed a zabbix server without any issues. So I added my hosts and my templates. Then, I wanted to monitor windows updates. So I went to zabbix share and downloaded the Check Windows Update template (Zabbix Share - Zabbix - Check Windows Update (v1.0)). I followed the instructions but I'm having some trouble to getting the information. Here is my infrastructure:

• I am using zabbix version 5.2.3
• I am using a Windows 2016 server
• The server is sending the data correctly via zabbix_sender.exe (see attachment)

The problem is that when I try to retrieve the information from the zabbix server, the server tells me "wrong type of item" (I specify that the type is: Zabbix Trapper). And when I try to change the type of the item, the server tells me "Item key not supported". I've tried a lot of things to resolve my problem, I've changed some settings in zabbix agents, in the template, but nothing work. I have been looking for a solution for weeks now, can you help me solve my problem ?

Only item you can "retrieve" something, or "check now" is that one "Last check" item. Others should stay as trapper type. You cannot retrieve anything for trapper items. So its pretty normal, it says "wrong item type" for that.
If that "Last check" seems to be unsupported, then you shoudl check your agent config, is system.run allowed at all.

As I said, you cannot "Check now" on trapper item. It expects data being sent in by zabbix_sender. As long as I understand this template (I have never used it before) your "last check" item is the one, which executes a script (exe) and sends values to those items with zabbix_sender. So please change that "total" item back to "trapper". It should work as others. If none of those items receive values from that host, then you should maybe check connection issues. That logfile seems to not telling you, is sending successful, it just says, what it plans to send...
