Where are the precompiled zabbix_server files for 2.0 and above to be found?
I want to upgrade my 1.8 vertsion zabbix to a higher level and i want to use precompiled zabbix_server files if i can.
The manual states that they can be found but not where....
the release date was on 21 May 2012 so its over 3years old! and the 2.0 has its EOL on 21. may 2015 its not supported and thats why are no pre-compiled binaries exist, so compile you own and upgrade to 2.2 as soon as possible!
I think that it could not directly upgrade to 1.8 to 2.2.
First of all it is necessary to carry out the conversion to the database for 2.0 from 1.8.
When To convert from a 1.8 for 2.0 history often it takes especially long.
When you upgrade to 2.0 for the database,
it takes automatically converted and after you start the Zabbix server 2.2.
Please get the backup before you start the upgrade work.
If it fails to upgrade, please be recovered from the backup.

Indeed it takes two steps to upgrade to 2.2...
The zabbix_server_mysql file in the rpm is a working binary?

You may use pre-compiled binaries or compile your own.

It's indeed a bit misleading.
What was actually meant is:
Pre-compiled binaries of all Zabbix components are available on zabbix.com by packages for major Linux distributions. Pre-compiled Zabbix agents are additionaly available for various other operating systems in form of Tarballs.
Proper Zabbix packages may also be found in many OS and 3rd party software repositories.
