Migrate Zabbix Database to new Zabbix Server

I have recently started a new job and taken ownership of my companies Zabbix server (Zabbix V2.4.6 on RHEL 6.10 with MySQL 5.1.73). Before I arrived, a new server (RHEL 8.3 with MySQL 8.0.21) was commissioned to migrate Zabbix onto. My plan was to do a fresh install of Zabbix 5.0 onto the new server, and migrate the existing database over from the old server.
Is this possible? My understanding is that if I complete a fresh install, delete the new database, migrate the old database and then point the upgraded Zabbix to the old database it would perform an upgrade and recognise it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
