I have done some searching on this and can't find anything particularly helpful. That might be just poor search terms though. So, we have a large proportion of the servers we wish to monitor running as VMs on VMWare, the ability to add all these by having Zabbix interrogate the vcenter was great. However, we also wish to have these servers monitored using the Zabbix agent. This, of course, creates two host objects, Is there any way to either merge these hosts or, alternatively, is there a way to have the host discovered via vcenter interrogation and the host discovered via the agent realise that they are the same ?

Is it possible to merge hosts discovered through VMWare vcenter and Zabbix agents ?

I have not tested the new Zabbix "VMware FQDN" templates in 5.2 (and 5.0?) myself yet, but I understand that one of the big changes there was to replace the UUID put as hostname with FQDN and have UUID as a macro instead. My own solution earlier was taken from another thread in this forum that basically did the same thing (though I don't use the autodiscovery feature, I add the vmware templates to the host-definition after the zabbix-agent is in place).
See also this (not sure if it uses the newest FQDN templates): https://bestmonitoringtools.com/vmwa...er-vm-vsphere/
