Log file monitoring delay

Hi everyone,

I'm having delay issues with an item monitoring a log file. The number of lines on the file build up but it gets to such an extent that it's becoming impossible for the monitor to "digest" all of them. The alerts can come in up to even 20 hours late. It's seems as though the item can't process the lines quickly enough and they get enqueued till the next time the item runs.

Without modifications to the source code the Zabbix agent is limited to process maximum 4000 lines in total and is limited to send no more than 1000 matching lines per second to a Zabbix server/proxy. See MaxLinesPerSecond

Of course, the agent considers the respective item interval when calculating the effective limits. So the limits are effectively the same regardless which item interval is configured.

When not being limited by these figures, then the bottleneck is likely somewhere else.
