How to monitor juniper ex series

Hi there! I am new so I'll try to help when i can , not only request your help,
But today i am having some trouble
I 've installed zabbix, can access the web, it is all operational, but I DO NOT figure how to add juniper ex4200 series, i see there are some templates, but do not figure out how to do it...any whitepaper? any doc i can read?
I really need a step by step guide to this first implementation, no problem in reading , but please I need this very first time a "dummy guide" for my first monitoring
    thanks a lot!"

    Hi,

zabbix have pretty good wiki, start there.

    you will need to:
    • configure snmp on your switches
    • add new hosts to zabbix for your switches
    • add some templates to your hosts (AFAIK, zabbix comes with some SNMP interfaces templates)

I did recently the same task, added our ex4200 in virtual chassis to monitoring. However it was a little bit tricky to monitor health status, as there are multiple index OIDs, I used external script to perform SNMP LLD

I also use custom script to discover interfaces, which provides filtering on adminstatus.

I don't know if there are some dummy guides, probably no, but there were some books about zabbix, check on amazon.

        Hi,
        same here.
Did you manage to get the first device under control?
        I did:
        - add the host
        - add the template for EX4200
        - assign the template to the host, it found 380 items +/-

        But....
I cant see it going.... i dont see any data nor graphs.
For example, with Zenoss Core, once added the device, it shows all the interface usage graphs which I find really useful.

Can someone please help ? Is there a noob reference guide on how to add just one device? I need to get started then I think I'll walk on my feets...

        Thank you,
        Carlo.
