    Windows hosts availability grey

    Hi All

I am using Zabbix 5.0.10 on Centos 7, we are currently planning to roll our Zabbix on a large scale, we had a small scale test 20+ servers with a mixture of Linux and Windows hosts and no proxy which went fine.

But we are now testing with a Zabbix server and plan to have proxy's installed in each server farm spread out globally.

All Linux hosts Centos/Ubuntu register fine when Server=(ip of proxy) and ServerActive=(ip of proxy) set , the same settings are set on the WIndows hosts and they are able to send data to the Zabbix server via the proxy, but the ZBX availability is greyed out.

I've checked in the logs on the Windows hosts, proxy and Zabbix server and there is no clues what's causing it, the Linux and WIndows hosts are on the same ip subnet and they can all connect to the Zabbix server on port 10050 and 10051.

    Has anyone experienced this before?

    Regards
    Per

Does the Windows host shows green when on Zabbix Server and it turn to gray on Proxy?

Usually If your template having all items with active checks then it shows as gray, check the template with at least one passive item.

Yes if i configure the Windows host to use the Zabbix server then it turns green, I forgot to mention that we are using action rules to automatically add hosts.

Just to clarify: "Check the template with at least one passive iten" how do I do that? for this POC we are using the "Template OS Windows by Zabbix agent active" in the action rule.

As you are using Zabbix Agent Active template only, then host will not show in Green. You can give a try by adding additional template like "Template Module Zabbix Agent" not the "Template Module Zabbix Agent Active", then you will see the host shows in green.

You can verify the Items of your windows host has any Zabbix agent (Passive Check) marked in blue.
