Viewing web panel under main domain instead of subdirectory

I installed Zabbix 2.4.5 on a CentOS 6.6 server.
All is working fine.
However, I am a bit annoyed that it loads within a subfolder.
For example: http://zabbix.mydomain.com/zabbix
I would prefer it to load on http://zabbix.mydomain.com, without the subfolder.
I know I can use mod_rewrite, and have tried that in fact. It does redirect to the root, but then of course cannot find the files.
So is there any way to make it load from the domain only and not via a subfolder?
Surely there has to be some place or file which tells Apache to load it the way it does, but I have not been able to find it so far.
