    Upgrade... From Zabbix 2.2.5!!!

Hello to all. I'm using Zabbix from along time ago, started with the v1.8.

Later in time, when v2.2 was released all my basic needs was satisfied. This is the main reason for that I never made an upgrade, the other if off course the lack of time.

Currently some of the big improvements added to newer versions would be very useful to me, so I have plans to make me some time and do the upgrade, if it is possible off course. So, can you point me in the right direction? Is possible to make this upgrade in steps (v2.2 to 3.0 and so on)?

In case that this is not possible, I need to make a fresh install, but then my question is: Can I import all my custom templates and created hosts or do I need to create all of them again?

So, this is all for now, thanks a lot in advance! Best regards,

    Mauro.

I'd backup existing database and point fresh 5.4 Zabbix server right on it. Follow the database upgrade progress in zabbix_server.log, it might take a lot of time depending on the size of your database. If that fails - report issues in https://support.zabbix.com . This upgrade process is guaranteed and should not fail.

You can do direct upgrade from 2.2 to 5.4 but only if your platform satisfies the requirements of 5.4! DB version, php version etc... Most probably you need to upgrade (or at least try to upgrade) platform to even get those required versions installed. If youdon't care about data, then it might be easier to install a new one and try to export/import configuration. I think this is backwards compatible, so you can install templates from older versions in new instance, but not vice versa...
To be honest, I would keep old one running until new one is prepared and experiment with new instance instead of all this upgrade hassle...:P
