Mail does not seem to be sending with new media type

I have created a new email media type in zabbix 4.0.17 running on ubuntu 18.0.4 (bionic). I assigned an action to send to a specific user when the trigger condition is met. I have made sure the problem and recovery both have assigned methods (to send email to a specific user). However, zabbix does not seem to be sending mail. the Default "EMAIL" Media type seems to work ok. I have checked externally to see if the relays are working and they seem to be accepting mail from the zabbix server. not sure what else to check.

Ignore or remove this post. I figured it out. was not very intuitive to get going.
