Service will not start on Windows 7 x64

The Zabbix service refuses to start on Win 7 and Server 2012.
I get the following error.

C:\Zabbix>zabbix_agentd.exe -s
zabbix_agentd.exe [1564]: ERROR: cannot start service [Zabbix Agent]: [0x000004D]
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fash
on.

Here is my conf file:

LogFile=c:\Zabbix\zabbix_agentd.log
EnableRemoteCommands=1
ServerActive=192.168.0.12
HostnameItem=system.hostname[host]
RefreshActiveChecks=120

From Services.msc I get a similar error as in the command line.

Error 1053:The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fash
on.

This error is documented, however the solution does not work.

Any ideas?

The "Server" parameter is the reason (https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...bix_agentd_win). Try to add Zabbix server IP in this parameter and start Zabbix agent. Does it work now?

You should set "StartAgents=0" to be able to comment out "Server" parameter and Zabbix agent in active mode only.
It is not a bug, Zabbix works in such way.

I see, so what you're saying is that if I use the "ServerActive=" parameter I also need to set the "StartAgents=0" parameter.
I'll try that.

1) you should set some value in "Server" parameter (i.e. enable passive Zabix agent mode in such way)
OR
2) comment out it AND set "StartAgents=0" to start Zabbix agent in active mode only
