Fundamental questions for Zabbix

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in starting using zabbix in our environment an I have few questions.

In the past I was using Nagios as a monitoring and SLA tool I know how does it work and regarding to Naverisk a have next questions.

Can zabbix agent register alone when I install it on client machine, if I put it addresses od Zabbix server in agent installation? Or not?
When adding host in Zabbix I must put IP address or DNS name, and what happens when host (client) change it IP address? Of course i have clients who gets IP address from DHCP server.





And one more, how can I add host i Zabbix server if my agent in not in the same network as Zabbix server?



For example, my Zabbix server have IP address 192.168.10.10 and my agent is on some ADSL line with 192.168.1.10.

You have to configure the zabbix server IP or hostname in all zabbix agents

You can configure both and have a button to swtich between DNS and IP when you want

And one more, how can I add host i Zabbix server if my agent in not in the same network as Zabbix server?
If the zabbix server can "see" the host in another network (using NAT or something) then you can monitor. If don't, you have change you network configuration (not a issue relative to zabbix)
