Automatically change template on trigger

Is there any possibility to link a new template to an host when the result of an item fires a trigger ?
I need to link host just discovered to a new template when a condition became true.
Any idea ?

I don't see a really simple way, but triggers can cause actions, and actions have operations including custom scripts, the script could then use the API to attach a template.

Seems like there should be a better way but I didn't notice one in a quick look.

If the condition is one that can be noticed during discovery (as opposed to polled for) you have the much easier discovery triggers which could link the template.
