New to zabbix - install in win32 environment

    Hey guys and gals,

I've only just stumbled across zabbix and keen to give it a go. The server is just a WinXP test PC with mysql, apache and the other required apps already loaded. Is there a good doco for installing/configuring zabbix in this environment as im not sure where to even place the zabbix folder let alone anything else.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Currently windows is not supported on the server side, I believe I saw in a roadmap that they woudl like to change that.. but for now you'll need a supported server OS..

"server software for Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Free BSD, Open BSD, OS X"

You can monitor window's hosts with zabbix, just can't use it for the server yet.

If you really want to keep a Windows server to host the Zabbix server, consider using a machine emulator on your windows box, hosting a little unix (linux) install for running the zabbix_server daemon.

This way, you will keep you winbox with Apache/PHP and MySQL on it, just hosting a little piece of good code in a - say VMWARE - virtual server I saw some customer testing Zabbix like that, and some ZABBIX partners are pretty inventive in such ways (see the partner zone ).

Of course, for large install, consider using a Unix box to host the ZABBIX server, or wait a couple of (couple of couple of...) months to have the zabbix server ported to Windows (you can probably accellerate this wait time by helping Zabbix SIA to develop this feature if business critical for you).

      Cheers,
