Has anyone ever used an android phone as a GSM modem?

Hi, new to Zabbix and want to use SMS alerting...instead of getting a USB GSM modem I am wondering if anyone has ever used a USB-connected Android phone? I have Zabbix on Ubuntu 20.04 and I am reasonably sure I can configure it to work with the OS, just want to know if I do will it then work with Zabbix?

Zabbix does not care, is it Android or iOS or any other... It needs it to be recognized as a serial modem. All the AT commands etc...
