    Bandwith per ip

    Hey guys,

I've created multiple iptables rules to see incoming and outgoing traffic. This is a bytes counter. What is the best way to monitor this in zabbix in mbps/kbps?

Hope you can help me out.

    Kind Regards

When you use Units "bps", the value description automatically converts to Kbps or Mbps.

There is one thing which you have to notice - it's not easy to count the Total traffic per month/per year/etc.
    Sincerely yours,
    Aleksey

      Tnx aib
What is the best way to do this?
Do i have to create an item and let it update every 60s?
How does the item look like? Do you have an example?

Sorry, but no. I have NO idea how do you like to control it.
Obviously, it will be one number per item.
For example, if you would like to control traffic, you need two items - for Inbound + for Outbound traffic.
        Sincerely yours,
        Aleksey

A simple item in the zabbix_agent.conf file will do the job but you will have to make two items per machine for INPUT and OUTPUT and use awk/cut and all the other commands available to pickup the bytes column
