[newbie] How to discover and add to right group many brands of snmp devices

Hello,
I am learning Zabbix. I plan in my network to use discovery to find all snmp devices.
I want to add to several groups: routers, printers and so on
I have read articles and books and it seems that I need to write a lot of discovery rules that when they read right snmp id they put the device in the right group.
Is it possible that noone has built a list of rules to start with?
Do all people start from scratch?

I guess people have different set of hw, different naming requirements for hosts, hostgroups, templates, etc, different snmp authentication settings, etc. So in this case it's more do it yourself approach.
