Why not Host Groups and Template Groups

    Hi all.

I am new to the forum but have been using Zabbix since version 4. One thing that is very confusing to me and when I try to explain the Zabbix GUI to others is Host Groups. When explaining Host Groups, I always have to tell the other person to ignore those HOST GROUPS that begin with "Template". These are essentially Template Groups. Why not separate these under a Groups section with a top drop-down selector offering the option of Host Groups and Template Groups, similar to how Actions is implemented?

    Thanks in advanced.

You can name your hostgroups as you wish. Don't need to use "Templates" You can put templates in any hostgroup, no matter the name...

      Thanks for the response.

Of course I can rename them but it's the contents of them that throws people off. When trying to get more people interested in Zabbix and going through the explanation of Hosts, Host groups, Actions, Templates, Discovery Rules, this is a question that comes up every time: "Why are their Templates in Host Groups?".

This inevitably happens within the first hour of a new person being exposed to Zabbix, especially when they see how Actions are implemented.

Never had such a question.. But you can explain, that template is basically a host, just a bit different type... They are even kept in same DB tables...
