Discovery rule for multiple hosts, unclear page UI

The idea is to monitor specific directories on several different hosts.
For that I've created a template with a discovery rule and a host which uses the template.

Now the thing is if I navigate to the Discovery rule via All templates I don't have to choose a host:

    Templates page

But if I navigate to the Discovery rule page via All hosts I do have to choose a host ...:

    Hosts page

    What's the difference?
Why do I have to set a Host interface here?

I would assume the host makes sure I can receive data from all Agent interfaces ...:

    Agent interfaces

    Anybody?

Template has no idea, how many interfaces there are in your hosts, so there is no selection made there...
When assigned to a host, item is tied to a interface, first one usually. Not to all available ones at once. If you have multiple agent interfaces, you are given a choice, which one to use. You can have multiple instances of agent running on one host. Each for separate things... Default does your baseline monitoring, install a DB there and second instance is fired up to do DB monitoring and you need to point those items to different agent interface.... things are possible.
Theoretically, you can have a "fake" host, with multiple agent interfaces, which actually sit in completely different hosts.. So, one item is checked from one host and other item from another host. Complicated, yes... but possible.

All, what I described is a manual work. Discovery also does not know about different interfaces also (no IF selection in prototypes). And those situations are not very common, where you would need such approach. In most cases it would be just easier to create a separate hosts for each thing and not to worry about multiple agent interfaces etc.
