Agentless ICMP Monitoring

I am sure this has already been covered in this forum, however, I couldn't find it easily. I'm brand new to Zabbix, but not to the Network Monitoring world.

I'm looking to add a simple up/down ICMP monitor for a few hosts. I followed a few YouTube videos, to no avail. Would someone here be able to point me in the right direction? I've recently downloaded and installed the a Virtual Appliance from the website and have several Windows Server hosts working correctly.

There is a way to use a template called ICMP Ping. With this template, all you have to do is register the target you want to monitor as a host and link this template to that host. It is not necessary to install Zabbix agent on the target you want to monitor.
