Automatically put discovered hosts in groups

Is there a way to automatically put discovered hosts in a group, based on things like their hostname?

Creating separate rules based on hostname patterns (or metadata) is one way... Other way is to run a script during registration, which does "magic" over API and assigns to correct group(s).
