    Using Virtual Appliance

Should one use the zabbix virtual appliance for a production environment or should it be used for testing only?

From what I understand you will outgrow the appliance unless your monitoring needs are rather small.

But I wonder if you were to modify the specs to what the Wiki recommends and then use proxies if it wouldn't work pretty well.

    Perhaps others will weigh in.

      Hi,

For real production instances a standalone installation would be better. Appliance normally is used for trying Zabbix as such. Yes, there are people using appliance for production monitoring as well and there is no problem with that bur others might want to choose another OS over OpenSUSE which is used for appliance.

It is really not difficult to install Zabbix on any clean RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu system from packages.

      Best Regards,
      Ingus
