    Monitoring Juniper trunk ports only

I've just installed Zabbix 6.0 LTS in a PoC state initially to get an idea how it works and whether it will be a good replacement for an older Zenoss implementation. It will primarily only be used to monitor network devices such as switches. I've used the Juniper SNMP template in a new host group I created and nice to see if monitors and notifies of ALL switchports out of the box unlike Icinga which we spent some time fighting with to get it to monitor any interfaces.

However in reality all I care about being notified about are the uplink ports which are all trunk ports, is it possibly in an easy way to first clone the Juniper SNMP template(or any template) and modify it to notify about issues with trunk ports solely? I will eventually also have Cisco & Moxa switches added and will want to do the same with them.

I found an old post similar to this but it was on an earlier version and things may have changed from then to now with the latest version of Zabbix.

    TIA

Yes you can (and should) clone those OOB templates and modify them according to your needs. Usually those templates use macros to specify, what should be discovered and what not. By modifying those macros, you can select just those you need.

Did you get this working as I am interested in this solution too?
