    zabbix-3.0.0alpha5 errors

Decided to try zabbix-3.0.0alpha5 on top of an existing working 2.4.7 and it does not allow me to even load the main page.

Environment is Centos 6.7 64 with PHP 5.6.16. Before trying Zabbix 3 it was working fine.

PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function display() on null in /var/www/html/include/views/general.warning.php on line 23

    Any ideas?

    Happy Holidays to all!

It's not clear which version has a problem and what do you want to solve (Before trying Zabbix 3 it was working fine, but title "zabbix-3.0.0alpha5 errors").
    Did you check php/zabbix logs?

zabbix-3.0.0alpha5 on top of an existing working 2.4.7 -> not good idea - DB is upgraded automatically.

"Before trying Zabbix 3 it was working fine."

Based on that simple fact, zabbix-3.0.0alpha5 of course.

"zabbix-3.0.0alpha5 on top of an existing working 2.4.7 -> not good idea - DB is upgraded automatically. "

Pretty much irrelevant as the web GUI does not work. The errors are showing up in the apache logs, nothing on the zabbix server logs. Don't really care if the database needs to be dropped either.

This is generated every time I try to access index.php

[Thu Dec 24 19:22:00 2015] [error] [client 10.5.36.50] PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function display() on null in /var/www/html/include/views/general.warning.php on line 23

As for what I want to solve, what could that possible be?

Requirements for PHP version were upped, see Upgrade notes for details. You will need to upgrade PHP, otherwise all you will see will be just a blank page.

          Hi,

Did you remove the old web interface files completely before copying 3.0 or did you just overwrote the existing ones?

If you don't see any errors in Zabbix server log and DB was upgraded successfully then try reinstalling the web interface only.

          Best Regards,
          Ingus

ingus.vilnis you are 100% correct. I never expected it to be an issue, but know better now. After deleting the old front end files and copying the new ones and assigning the proper permissions I was able to get further.

Just an FYI for someone else in case it also happens. My users had a default map in their users profile so the URL field on the users table looked like this:

"/maps.php?ddreset=1&sid=28a183fc321e5ae2". In 3.0 I guess the file was renamed to map.php and that was also generating the error below.

[Tue Dec 29 19:14:17 2015] [error] [client 10.5.36.50] script '/var/www/html/maps.php' not found or unable to stat

Once I deleted the URL value from the users profile all was fine.

Thanks a million and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2016 for all Zabbix Developers and users.

              Paul
