zabbix host (active_agent) appears offline/red in zabbix icon

Hello zabbix friends!

I need to setup a zabbix agent (client inside a NAT) and I'd like to use active agent, but in the zabbix hosts screen, the zabbix (Z)icon are red.

This is my client configuration;

The connection between agent and server seems ok (zabbix log);

But in the Configuration/hosts, in the chew hostname row, the Z icon are red with the message "Get value from agent failed, cannot connect to 0.0.0.0".

Is there some mistake? can you help?

Hi Juliano,

It seems to be network related problem. There are couple questions before turning Z to green, and yet there is possibility to stay in red but still to gather information from your Active Agent. What are Server and Server Active IP addresses Public Static? Did you check port forwarding? Is it denied? Can not connect to 0.0.0.0 means that there is default route. Maybe there are not wright IP addresses? And a few tips. Create Auto Registration on Server side https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...o_registration. Comment Hostname= and use HostnameItem=system.host and HostMetadataItem=system.uname

Hi,

The reason behind the red icon is that templates you are using on that host don't have all items with type Zabbix agent (active). The icon represents the host availability from Zabbix server's perspective and if your agent is located behind NAT then there is no way Zabbix server can connect to 0.0.0.0 thus displaying this error. And in the meantime you will get data successfully from your active items.

To fix this cosmetic issue you have to remove and create the host again and make sure you don't have any passive items on the templates, including low level discovery rules and their item prototypes.

Then all that will work and your agent icon will be grey because no connections are made from server side.
