Setting up alert/ trigger depending on 2 parameters being met

    Hi all,

I want to setup an alert trigger that only activates when 2 conditions have happened.

I am monitoring our internet access by doing ICMP checks towards 2 IP's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (2 IP's because I do not want to get a notification/ alert because one IP is unreachable, could be the google IP is unreachable for one reason or the other, but we still have an active internet connection)
Now I need to set an alert condition where the alert triggers only if BOTH IP's I am checking are unreachable.
How can I achieve this in ZABBIX please?

    Thank you for your help,

    Dirk

    Hello, how are you?

You could make a trigger with the expression: last(/Google IP1/icmpping)=0 and last(/Google IP2/icmpping)=0
Google IP1 and Google IP2 are virtual hosts with ICMP template added.

Even you could do something like: max(/Google IP1/icmpping,#3)=0 and max(/Google IP2/icmpping,#3)=0 to allow for some time and check max of last 3 values.

    Regards

Just read the docs for a change... Example 5 covers your use case...

        Thank you for your help.
I am completely new to this, so I do apologize for my ignorance.
And my networking skills can be seen as beginner +.
Where as most of these things said here, or written in a manual can be seen by you as "obvious", to me they seem "cryptic"..for now as I am working on it
Hence why I come here to try and learn from people with experience.
Monitoring the availability of the devices through smtp was already setup, and was reasonably easy.
I am trying to monitor through icmp pings towards (2 or perhaps 4 to eliminate possible FP's) exterior DNS servers ex. google, opendns, ..not smtp to my own devices.
Which your example 5 seems to suggest. But I am no doubt missing something then :/

        Kind regards,
