Migrating from passive to active check

    Hi,

I'm setting up a new zabbix server to migrate from an old one not maintained.

I want to switch from passive to active check but I have so trouble about details :

    - Items from Zabbix provided templates need to be switched from "Zabbix Agent" to "Zabbix agent (active)", is this possible in mass action ?

    - At least one passive check is needed for the ZBX item to turn green (according to zabbix 2019 video about active check) is this still needed ?

    Regards

    Hello Zeiko,

Just unlink and clear current template replacing with the zabbix agent active template in hosts mass update.
And yes you do need at least one passive agent item for displaying aviability.

    Regards

If you don't want to lose data, change item type in template.. Those 2 templates are pretty much the same anyway, just different item type is used..:P

Hi, thanks for your answer, one last thing i'm not sure to get, does an active proxy can manage passive agent item or do I need 2 proxies, one for all active items and one for a passive item ?

        Regards

Thanks, as it is a full remake we do not keep data, so I for now clone template that are not active and make the clone an active template

Active or passive proxy is about how proxy communicates with server. Agent communication is separate topic. So yes, your active proxy can manage passive items.
