We currently run a Nagios cluster for our monitoring but are considering switching to ZABBIX as it looks like a much better system and far easier to configure and use for our team.
One thing I wanted to check though. As I noted above we currently run Nagios in a cluster meaning it runs across three servers in different data centers. Those three Nagios nodes talk to each other and an alert about a device being down is only sent out if all three nodes detect the device as unavailable.
This is an important feature in order to rule out false alerts being sent. If things are only monitored from one location then we could end up getting lots of false alerts or missing important alerts if there was some kind of network issue affecting the server running the monitoring.
Is running ZABBIX across multiple servers like this going to be a problem? We really just need the monitoring data to be crossed checked from multiple locations before a “down” alert is sent out to our staff.
Thanks for your time
