Zabbix Agent Upgrade Question

I'm currently testing/learning with Zabbix 2.2 LTS but I'm watching for the final release of the next version of Zabbix 3.0. I'm only starting to use Zabbix so before I add all my hosts and hardware I thought it would be easier to install Zabbix 3.0 and start fresh.

But my questions are regarding the agents I've installed currently for my testing on 2.2:

1. Are agents for a specific version of Zabbix only or will agents work across versions?
2. When I do install a fresh version of Zabbix 3 will I need to upgrade each agent on the hosts I've been testing on for the Agent to work with Zabbix 3?
3. Or is it best practice to uninstall the agents I've been using for my Zabbix 2.2 testing when I do install Zabbix 3?
