How to debug from zabbix server/proxy containers for snmp host timeout issue

In our environment, Zabbix server, proxy, and snmptraps containers use images with tag alpine-6.0,6. Neither snmpwalk nor snmpget command is available in these containers.

Some monitored hosts are reachable by ping checks from zabbix server and proxy, however, the SNMP agents of these hosts show 'Timeout while connecting to "<host IP>:161".' The community string is well configured on these hosts and no firewall rule blocks traffic.

I'd like to request for your advice on how to debug this kind of issue? any debugging tools similar to snmpwalk/snmpget available on zabbix server/proxy/snmptraps containers?

    Thanks.

That timeout should be the snmp host not responding to the proxy within the proxy timeout setting. SNMP can be slow, have you increased the timeout from the default? We increased the default 3 seconds to 6 for our snmp proxies.

Thanks very much LenR! I increased the timeout value from 4 to 10, 6 out of the 8 timeout hosts became snmp reachable.

Sometimes un-checking Use bulk requests will help too.
