    Zabbix newb questions

    Hi Zabbix community,

I am running Zabbix 6.2.1 with the VMware image.
This is for a small project, in a home environment where one of my main goals was to help document an intermittent issue I have been having with a server.

I have the agent installed and did see Problems logged in the dashboard, when I did my original testing and setup. But it looked like since I'd installed the agent.. the issue must have gone away?

However, the issue resurfaced and I couldn't find any "problem" to action or acknowledge.

I did some digging and found someone with same issue in these forums, turns out, the Problems get auto cleared.. after a few minutes when the intermittent failure goes away for a while.

How can I setup all issues Zabbix finds to not clear automatically and require me to manually acknowledge everything manually?

If you have any constructive suggestions on how to better use Zabbix to spot this kind of intermittent problems?

    Thanks

    Andy

    Hi,

I discovered the dagobah linux host manually (I had installed the agent, but hadn't setup the autodiscovery in zabbix yet). I used the edit "top hosts by CPU Utilization" to manually add the octopione and dagobah hosts to that list.

Cause the Zabbix server alerts seem to actually stay in "current problems" as I was expecting all monitored alerts would.

I thought adding a screenshot might prove more helpful:

There is Monitoring->Problems (or I hope they still put it there in the latest version) where you can look at the history of all previous alerts. You can even acknowledge them there. That seems to be what you're looking for, correct?

        Hi Xzenor,

What I am looking for is for the Problems on the dashboard to not auto-close or disappear from the dashboard unless I've manually acknowledged it.

It almost seems like the 2 new hosts I added (other than Zabbix server itself) seem to behave differently than the zabbix one. Because the Zabbix server alerts stay on the dashboard until acknowledged.

However, alerts from the other 2 hosts I discovered behave differently. Just trying to figure out why. So I can know how to configure a host so it doesn't auto close issues.

        Thanks

It's interesting, how if I click on this specific historical issue, it brings me the kind of detail I'd like to see for my other hosts.. showing how often it has actually occurred. I'm not sure it's showing ALL events or just the last [20]. Sadly I can't see the event in History, so I can't check the other servers, which are the ones I am more interested in.

Hope this at least clarifies issue..

      Thanks
