Newbee question about zabbix works

I am a complete newbee trying to understand how zabbix works. I have a proxmox server and want to add it to zabbix.

When creating the host in zabbix, which interface type shall I choose? No clue is given in the proxmox template documentation. Is it a SNMP-interface or shall I select zabbix client and also install the client on the proxmox host?

1. You should install zabbix-agent2 (I think the latest version is preferred, not the legacy zabbix-agent) on the Proxmox server. Make sure that the Hostname parameter (or the Hostname Autodetection) matches the hostname you have entered for your Host in the Configuration/Hosts section.

2. You should add the Agent interface for your Host item. Provide an IP address or the hostname as you wish, do not forget to set the "use ip or dns name" switch to the correct position.
