Agent Server active check not working

Hi guys,

I'm trying to use agent to monitor server. Both agent and server are install in same machine. I keep getting below message from agent and server log

zabbix_agent.log
no active checks on server [127.0.0.1:10051]: host [zabsrv.xxx.com] not found


zabbix_server.log
cannot send list of active checks to [127.0.0.1]: host [zabsrv.xxx.com] not found


Have searched on forum and google and most of them advise is the hostname issue. I'm quite sure my hostname are correct. Below is the configuration.

/etc/zabbix/zabbix_agentd
ServerActive: 127.0.0.1
Hostname:zabsrv.xxx.com

[root@zabsrv zabbix]# hostname
zabsrv.xxx.com

[root@zabsrv zabbix]# netstat -ltn
Active Internet connections (only servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10050 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10051 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

Would appreciate if anyone can point out what caused it unable to work properly.

Check hostnames configured in Zabbix frontend and in agent's configuration file. They should be identical.

Hi,

I checked again my agent config file and notice that i did not include the port. Once i added in the port, server able to send out the active check list but now the agent seems having some error.

Based on the log, I saw below error message:
cannot parse list of active checks: cannot parse as a valid JSON object: invalid object format, expected opening character '{' at: 'ZBX_NOTSUPPORTED'

Can you advise where should i check for this error message ?

What version of Zabbix agent are you using?

What are you set to the ServerActive?

Hi,

I set it to 127.0.0.1:10050 as i installed the agent and server in same server.

Port number 10050 is the port number to use to access from Zabbix server to Zabbix agent.
Port number 10051 is the port number to use to access from Zabbix agent to Zabbix server.

Please use port 10051 to ServerActive.

ex.

ServerActive=127.0.0.1:10051

or

ServerActive=127.0.0.1

Hi,

When i tried to replace it with your suggestion, I got below error message

Zabbix_server.log
22431:20160315:135500.051 cannot send list of active checks to [127.0.0.1]: host [zabsrv] not found

Zabbix_agent.log
14962:20160315:135500.051 no active checks on server [127.0.0.1:10051]: host [zabsrv] not found

Can you advise what is the correct way to set in the server and agent config file ?

Did you register the host named 'zabsrv' by Web frontend?
(case sensitive)

Hi,

Based on the log file, I think i can assume the agent active check is running now and did not see the error message in the log file.

Actually i did create a host for zabbix server but the hostname was differ from what i configure for web interface.

[root@zabsrv ~]# tail /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.log

17373:20160315:145824.676 item "zabsrv:log[/var/log/rsyslog.log]" became not supported: Accessible only as active check.
