SNMP is still the same. v2 vs v3 is just a added security layer. Anyway you configure snmp connection on host level (at least in "current" versions)...so it does not matter from items point of view...
As you see that template itself has no mention of SNMP version whatsoever. In older versions of Zabbix SNMP config was in each item, but in recent versions (starting from v5, I think), this is moved to host level, so if it does not work for you, you need to investigate, why. If you provide info about your environment and errors you encounter etc. then maybe people here can help you, but currently... I cannot make any comments....
we use a Cisco CBS 250 Switch. I created a Remote Engine ID with the IP of our Zabbix Server. Also i created a group (only read and Authentication and Privacy) and a User.
This things i typed into Zabbix:
Interfaces: SNMP/IP address of the switch
Context name: EngineID
Security name: Name of the user
Security level: authPriv
Authentication protocol: SHA256
Authentication passphrase: password
Privacy protocol: AES128
Privacy passphrase: password
Did i miss something on the host configuration? I dont get any data but zabbix says that the SNMP agent is available....
Thank you for your help
My everyday work does not touch network devices too often.... Maybe someone else here know a bit more of this side.
PS. It would be nice if you answer with a post, not a comment, as it allows other people to quote you correctly.
