STOP - if too many alerts generated in a short time

    Hi,

over the weekend we had a switch failure, which generated around 9k emails as Zabbix server unable to reach hosts.

Due to complex network structure, we wouldn't be able to define and use the "Dependencies" option on triggers.

I am wondering is there any smart way to stop the alerts if too many generated in a short time (for example if 100 alerts generated in 1min).

May be something like; a maintenance plans kicks in if too many alerts generated in 1min.
    or
generate a Disaster alert and stop sending rest of alerts, if too many alerts generated in time period of 1min.

Your help will be much appreciated

    Regards,

    Advices:
    1. Disable in all triggers "Multiple PROBLEM events generation"
    2. Use email notifications only for critical alarms.

Thank you for the advise. usually these will be helpful
      I already following both options.

I am wondering which process in Zabbix servers counts the number of alerts generated ?, may be we can create a trigger for this ?
