Add template to host based on windows service

Got some windows servers with agents and Zabbix windows template doing inventory

I’m trying to get all servers with windows service “w3svc” (IIS) to automatically get moved to host group "webservers" and get template IIS linked .

Discovery rule and actions ? But how ?

im 6.0.2 zabbix appliance and windows 2019 servers.

I got it working by under "configuration - discovery" added a check with :

Zabbix agent "service.info[W3SVC,displayname]"

then under "configuration - action - discovery action"

Discovery check equals IIS check service: Zabbix agent "service.info[W3SVC,displayname]"

with an action: add to host group and link IIS template.

as soon as a server installs IIS, action is triggered.

There are 3 things host registration is looking at: host name, metadata and proxy name. If you have special naming for webservers... you can use "hostname contains..." if your webservers are all behind one specific proxy.. you can use proxy name equals... but most efficient would be to add something to metadata in agent config and then use "metadata contains...." to trigger autoreg action to assign templates and groups...
Discovery rule does not assign groups or templates..

Ah.. I mixed up 2 discoveries.. silly me..
I do not use network discovery, so I tend to forget about it..
