no active checks on server ... host not found

Attempting to set up Zabbix for the first time with Autoregistration and PSK.
    • Configuration > Actions > Autoregistration actions: Looks for metadata containing "Windows" and hostnames which don't contain a string
    • Administration > General > Autoregistration: Only allow PSK
      • Identity and key set (using openssl rand -hex 32)
    • Installed Windows Agent 2
      • Pointed both IP/FQDN fields to the same Zabbix IP
      • Ticked "Enable PSK" and filled out the same identity and key
Zabbix windows agent log: 2022/11/03 11:28:04.084073 [101] no active checks on server [192.168.2.100:10051]: host [MY-WINDOWS-HOST] not found
Zabbix server log: 3337:20221103:163005.107 cannot send list of active checks to "192.168.1.100": host [MY-WINDOWS-HOST] not found

I assume this is because the Zabbix server is failing to resolve the hostname. For many hosts, it will never be able to do this. If this is the case, is it possible to disable this active check?

So you server is at 192.168.2.100 and your host is 192.168.1.100 ...
Whats you settings in agent config for "Server" and "ServerActive" ?
Zabbix uses IP-s by default to connect to hosts, so name resolution is not that important ...
At first run of agent it usually fails, as server does not know about it at that point and should create host based on autoreg rules. If host creation succeeds, next query for checks from agent should also succeed.
Currently it seems, that autoregistration does not really work, that "host [MY-WINDOWS-HOST] not found" in server log clearly says, that it does not know anything about this host and cannot send anything to it...

I figured it out soon after posting, but wasn't able to edit/comment.
      • Not found is indeed referring to auto-registration; however, not terribly clear to a new user.
      • I assumed some basic host metadata was sent by default, but I had to set "HostMetadataItem=system.uname" in the agent's config.
      • Sometimes after making changes, you'll see "host not found" once in the logs (after a restart) and never again.
