Using remote commands in a trigger action to restart a Linux service (chronyd)

Hello! I am looking into using a trigger action to run a remote command to restart chronyd when the service stops. The issue that I am running into is that we are using zabbix-agent2 in active mode due to our network topology. Is there an alternative way to use the remote command feature with either our zabbix server or a proxy?

We have a 3 node cluster with 2 zabbix server nodes and a node for the front-end and MYSQL database. I was thinking about installing a proxy on one of the nodes but I'm unclear if that would work. I read the docs on remote commands but I'm looking for more detailed information on using either the zabbix server or a proxy.
