I find it interesting when a helpful forum member gives you links to the pages you read before posting your question. It is somewhat beneficial because I know I was close to the answer but somehow missed it.

I'm using the VMware FQDN template to monitor VMs. It produces hosts named Discover VMware VMs FQDN: (FQDN for VM). I want to add a trigger to this template. When I look at the VMware FQDN template, it has four discovery rules, one of which is "Discover VMware VMs FQDN. " Selecting "Trigger Prototypes" for this rule, then "Create Trigger Prototype", takes you to a page where you need to create an expression for the trigger. The first member of the expression is "Item". The items you can select are "VMware: Event log," "VMware: Full name," and "VMware: Version." These items relate to the VMware host, not the VM. So, where do I add a trigger to the VM template?

I may not have described my issue well in my initial post. I've found the discovered VMs use the VMware Guest template. I need to add any triggers to that template.

HI All - Can someone help me on the Discovered VMs, how to create Triggers and Items.

or is that OS based templates will it work if we import those templates to these VMs.
