    Stuck in Zabbix Installation - DB Creation Step

    Good Morning Zabbix Community. Im starting with Zabbix and I kindly ask your help or support regarding this issue found in the installation process with packages.

    Im following the installation guide (https://www.zabbix.com/documentation..._from_packages) in a CentOS 7 system. I already install the Zabbix packages (throught yum), however, when I try to apply the Database creation scripts for mysql (described in https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...all/db_scripts ), I cannot log as root , trying with the CentOS root password or a blank :

    $ mysql -uroot -p<password>
    ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

    I dont know what do here.

    Regards.

    If you are using CentOS 7, are you installed mariadb-server and start service for mariadb?
    If you want use MySQL server, Did you start the MySQL server?

      Yes, I also tried to install the mariadb, and followed the steps described in this thread for my CentOS 7(https://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthr...tabase%2Fmysql) but in the final step the GUI didnt appear.

      For this, I tested the installation process in a Debian 8 and the step described in the thread and worked.

      Finally I found the installation process more easier for Debian than for CentOS 7, you should check it because with the #zabbix IRC team we cannot found what was missing in the installation process for CentOS (they helped me to check httpd, apache, and nothing happened), or is someting related with the SElinux that CentOS have.

      Regards.
