Hey!
I've read a good bit of Zabbix documentation and a lot of forum posts but I either haven't read the right things or haven't found this answer yet.
We have a *lot* of transient AWS instances that come and go (up to a couple hundred a month). We are starting to run into the situation of AWS assigning IPs to new hosts that had existed in Zabbix at some point and in turn, messing up old trends, etc.
We haven't been deleting out old, long-dead hosts because we don't want to loose the trending data. The ultimate question is (two parts):
A) When a host is deleted out of Zabbix, is *all* the trend data now flagged for Housekeeper to delete?
B) If so, how can we either prevent that, or archive it out?
(Before anyone says it, yes we in the trenches are aware that trend data from some hosts that were shutdown 10+ months ago isn't of much real world value to assessing what is happening now. We are only following orders...)
Thank you!
M.
